This trail really isn't about the destination. I had set out to hike every open mile of the Pacific Crest Trail in the year 2018, and that's exactly what I did. I pushed myself to my physical and mental limits, met amazing people and experienced nature in its absolute glory.
I left off the last blog post on a bit of a cliff hanger as to whether or not I'd be skipping a section ahead of me due to a large forest fire just north along the trail. Fortunately, the trail was spared and there was no need to skip anything.
It has been almost a month since my last blog post, so I have quite a bit to catch you all up on. The heavy smoke from the current forest fire just north of my position and closer to the Oregon border looms overhead, blocking the surrounding mountain peaks from view. But we'll get back to that.
Here at Golden Girl Granola, we love the summertime vibes! The long days, plentiful sunshine, fun family vacations and, of course, scrumptious summer foods. We especially enjoy recipes that include our granola as an ingredient, making it instantly beyond delicious.
Recently, a few alert customers informed us that we were missing the crunch in our Home Sweet Honey and Original varieties. The bags they received were tasty and nutritious, but the granola was chewy. It was not bad—it was just like many of our competitors’ granola. And that’s not good enough.
